Electronics Engineer

Instrumentation & Machine Control

80–100% · Lugano, Switzerland

The role

Lumaspect is an early-stage technology company developing intelligent inspection and automation systems for electronics manufacturing. We combine machine vision, precision hardware and AI to help manufacturers improve quality and automate production.

We are looking for an electronics engineer to build and integrate the electronic systems behind our prototypes. The role combines component selection, circuit design, machine wiring and practical laboratory testing.

What you will do

  • Integrate cameras, controlled lighting, sensors, motor drivers and embedded controllers.
  • Develop reliable power distribution, wiring harnesses and electrical interfaces.
  • Design interface and control PCBs where commercial modules do not meet the requirements.
  • Implement and test acquisition triggers, timing and communication between subsystems.
  • Bring up prototypes, diagnose faults and document test results.
  • Maintain schematics, bills of materials and assembly documentation, considering electrical safety, grounding, EMC and serviceability.

What you bring

  • A qualification in electronics, electrical engineering or mechatronics, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience developing, assembling and debugging electronic hardware.
  • Confidence reading schematics and using oscilloscopes, multimeters and other laboratory instruments.
  • Familiarity with PCB design tools such as KiCad or Altium.
  • Understanding of microcontrollers, digital interfaces, power supplies and sensor integration.
  • Working proficiency in English and Italian preferred; strong candidates still developing one language are welcome.

Experience with embedded C/C++, Python test scripts, motion control, industrial cameras or synchronised illumination would be valuable. We particularly welcome engineers who can make effective use of existing hardware and develop custom electronics where needed.
